Several rumours and leaks were hovering around the upcoming Mi 5 after Xiaomi launched Mi 4, but nothing much was confirmed until recently when a new report hinted at the device's launch date.
According to GSMArena via a Chinese website Mobile Dad, Xiaomi will launch its much- anticipated flagship smartphone Mi 5 around November this year.
The report further states the configurations of Mi 5, by mentioning a whopping 4GB RAM coupled with a SnapDragon 820 SoC (System on Chipset). The smartphone will come in two storage variants - 16GB and 64GB. By looking at the recent Xiaomi smartphones, we can easily speculate the Mi 5 will skip the expandability factor.
For the display, Mi 5 boasts of a 5.5-inch screen with 2560x1440 pixels resolution. The Mi 5 will also support dual SIM dual standby functionality. Like its predecessors, the Mi 5 might also offer a sturdy built quality in a decent looking body.
Apart from these, the Xiaomi Mi 5 will also add the fingerprint recognition technology for making it a sensational smartphone. The report says if the Mi 5 uses Snapdragon 820 SoC, the smartphone may also take advantage of Qualcomm's fingerprint identification program. Unlike Apple's Touch ID, the fingerprint identification program uses ultrasound sensors which can recognise fingerprints even if the fingers have dirt, grease or sweat on it.
The smartphone could also feature a super slim body with a rumoured thickness of just 5.1mm. On the camera side, the Mi 5 might feature a 16MP rear camera sensor with OIS and an 8MP snapper for the front. The Mi 5 may also feature USB Type C connector too.
If Xiaomi manages to offer the above features for a mid-budget price, the Chinese smartphone maker might achieve remarkable success.
