Popular Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi is reportedly planning to announce a new device next week in China.
The company has begun sending invites for a launch event in Beijing on 19 October.
"The next generation of conference," reads (translated) the teaser posted by Xiaomi on the company's Weibo wall. This apparently led many to believe the long-rumoured Xiaomi Mi5 might finally be unveiled next week on Monday.
But another theory is also making headlines. Rumour has it that Xiaomi might launch Mi Pad 2, but we believe the company is more likely to announce the Mi5 as its predecessor Xiaomi Mi4 made its debut in 24 July. So, Mi5 is already late by almost three months and probably the company might launch Mi Pad 2 along with it, just like Apple did last month.
The Cupertino-based company, on 9 September, unveiled two iPhone 6S series phones and also showcased a new iPad Pro and iPad Mini 4. It will be unwise of Xiaomi to hold such a huge event just to launch a tablet.
Xiaomi Mi 5:
Xiaomi Mi5 is said to sport a 5.2-inch QHD (2,560 x 1,440p) display with Gorilla Glass 4 shield, and ships with Snapdragon 820 series CPU backed by 4GB RAM and a 3000 mAh battery. It also houses top-notch 16mp main camera and a 13mp snapper on the front.
Key aspect of Xiaomi Mi5 is its security system. It is said to house Qualcomm's Snapdragon Sense ID technology-based 3D fingerprint system, which is said to be more advanced than the one present on the current crop of tier-1 brands like Apple and Samsung phones.

Recent reports have indicated Xiaomi might announce new Mi Edge. It is believed the new variant will boast metal chassis and also probably come covered with metal shell as well. And on the front-side, the company will incorporate 5.2-inch Sharp made dual-edge 2K (2560x1440p) resolution display, wherein the screen will extend towards the edge on both the sides, identical to Samsung new 2015 flagship series. Other features will remain the same as seen in the original Mi5 model.
Xiaomi Mi Pad 2:
Rumours are rife that Xiaomi might ditch Android OS and incorporate Windows 10 in the new tablet. However, other details with regard to internal hardware of Mi Pad 2 are not known as yet.
Stay tuned for more updates.
