The happiness of Microsoft shows up on the discounted pricing. The company has acted to bring down the price of its latest console, Xbox One. The discounted price now reads $349 from the earlier $399, a $50 discount.
The company said it was thrilled to have a "record-setting holiday" and announced "a new promotion" for US where consumers can buy it for a "special price" of $349. The news was announced on Xbox Wire.
We are thankful for all the excitement for Xbox One this holiday and proud to offer more fans the amazing games line-up, Xbox Live gaming community, and continual innovation that Xbox One fans have come to enjoy," said Mike Nichols, Corporate Vice President of Marketing for Xbox.
Availability - Limited Period?
Though, the announcement talks that this price cut for Xbox One will start from 16 January 2015, there has been no mention of the end date. Digital Trends opines that this price drop may be a temporary one, to give momentum to the sales picked up from the Holiday season.
The price of the Xbox One with Kinect bundle remains the same and is not disturbed by the price-cut. It is still being sold at $499.
Better Sale Performance
Microsoft has had a better sale performance especially during what is known to be a critical season for the retails, according to the reports from NPD Group.
- Xbox One has sold more games in November and December in the US.
- Fans logged in more hours playing the Xbox during this holiday than before, due to the strong game line-up.
Feedback from fans played a big role in the change in the perspective of Microsoft, which has been giving way to fan demands. "Since it launched last year, Xbox Feedback has been instrumental in helping us best determine what our fans want and expect from us, and it's clear that the Xbox One wouldn't be what it is today without their valued input," said Phil Spencer, Head of Xbox.
Spenser promised an "amazing year for gamers" in 2015. We have to wait and watch what new announcement the company will be making this year.
