It has been known for some time that Hugh Jackman is all set to reprise his role of the ferocious mutant Wolverine in Fox's upcoming "X-Men: Apocalypse," based on Marvel's comic book of the same name. However, it seems his role will be more than just a cameo, unlike what has been stated in earlier reports.

Wolverine can be seen at the end of the latest trailer of "Apocalypse," seemingly helping young mutants. However, apart from it, not many details have been revealed about his part in the movie.

According to Comic Book, the upcoming movie might explore the Weapon X origins of Wolverine, which was only teased in the previous X-Men movies. In the comic books, Weapon X is a government research facility that captures mutants and experiments on them to enhance their superpowers.

In the trailer, it can be seen that Cyclops and other young mutants are in an ominous-looking hallway with several soldiers on the ground. The setting is quite similar to the laboratories of the Weapon X facility from the comic books and previous X-Men films.

The scene then cuts to Cyclops who says, "We had a little help," and a bare-armed Wolverine with metal claws is seen immediately afterwards. Though this is the only moment he appears in the entire trailer, there is no doubt he will have a significant role in the movie regardless of his screen time.

As stated by Slash Film, Wolverine has appeared in all the five X-Men movies, except in the spinoff "Deadpool." However, he just had a brief cameo in "X-Men: First Class," unlike the other movies, where he played a pivotal role. Hence, it can't be said for sure how important his role will be in "Apocalypse," and fans will have to wait till the movie hits the big screen.

"X-Men: Apocalypse" is scheduled to release on May 27, 2016, in North America in 3D and 2D.
