"X-Files Revival" was announced last March and it's all set to return on Fox on 24 January, 2016. While the shooting for this much-anticipated, six-episode miniseries is underway, reports about cast reveals and title leaks continue to buzz online.
While we already know that David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson have reprised their roles as FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dr Dana Scully, the latest reports points at a possibility of two other "X-Files" alumnus making a comeback in this revival series.
According to Crossmap, Mitch Pileggi and William B. Davis will also be returning to the "X-Files" world. Pileggi will reprise his role as FBI Assistant Director Walter Skinner, and Davis will be back as The Smoking Man.
But if you go back in time, you will realise that The Smoking Man was dead by the end of "X-Files" in the 90s. It definitely makes you think — how will the makers bring him back from the dead. Well, we will have to wait and watch.
Meanwhile, the report also said that two other new characters will come aboard. Apparently, the self-confessed "X-Files" fan Joel McHale will join to play the conservative news anchor Tad O'Malley and Annet Mahendru will be playing Sveta.
Also in the news is, New Zealand actor and comedian Rhys Darby, who has joined David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson and the rest of the crew for the upcoming "X-Files Revival". We still don't know what role "The Flight of the Conchords" star would play.
What more? The episode titles of the first three episodes of the mini-series have also been released. The titles will be called – "My Struggle", "Home Again", and "Mulder and Scully Meet the Were-Monster."
A few weeks ago, the title of Episode 1 was revealed through a leaked production call sheet. And before that, set photos showing David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson shooting in Vancouver, Canada and the crew shooting at a UFO crash site were also leaked.
The six-episode mini-series "X-Files Revival" will return on Fox on Sunday, 24 January, 2016 with Agent Mulder, Scully, Walter Skinner and The Smoking Man.
