WWE veteran superstar Stephanie McMahon, currently the commissioner of Monday Night Raw, has called the legendary Undertaker her "brother." Well, we cannot but help recall fond memories when the Deadman forcefully tried to marry Vince McMahon's daughter at a WWE Raw event, back in 1999.
Disclaimer: The in-ring marriage was just merely for entertainment purposes. As all the WWE fans are aware, Stephanie is married to Triple H (Paul Levesque) since October 2003, and have three daughters.
Speaking about the Undertaker's shocking retirement after the end of his match against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 33 this April, Stephanie stated that his off-the-ring relationship with Mark William Calaway (the Undertaker) was very cordial, over the years.
"There will never be another Undertaker... and everyone feels the same whether it's backstage or out in the arena," Stephanie, 40, spoke to British tabloid Mirror. "I think that everyone that is part of the WWE Universe is a fan of The Undertaker. There will never be anyone [else] like him.
"I've known him for a very long time. He's almost like a brother to me."
The moment when the Undertaker married Stephanie McMahon
So, this WWE (or rather, WWF) kayfabe storyline dates back to April 1999, when the Undertaker was a part of the sinister and satanic 'Ministry of Darkness' stable, which also featured Bradshaw, Viscera, Paul Bearer, Mideon and Farooq, at that time.
It all started at the end of the famous 'Backlash: In Your House' event at the Rhode Island on April 25, 1999. The closing segment of the WWE event showcased Stephanie getting kidnapped by the Undertaker inside a car.
On the 'WWF Raw is War' event the following Monday, the Deadman organised a dark wedding between himself and Stephanie, as he thought he would get access to rule the WWF if he married Vince's daughter.
Everything was on place, before Stone Cold Steve Austin arrived on the scene and spoiled the party.
