Russia's Svetlana Kuznetsova boasts of a massive head-to-head win record against Poland's Agnieszka Radwanska, but will she come out strong against the defending WTA Finals champion in the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore on Monday? That remains to be seen. As for predicting the result of the match going by their recent record, Radwanska holds the edge against Kuznetsova.
The 27-year-old Pole comes into the tournament having won the China Open women's final in Beijing earlier this month, defeating Britain's Johanna Konta, who lost the opportunity to seal a place for herself in WTA Finals 2016 after the 31-year-old Kuznetsova beat Daria Gavrilova in the Kremlin Cup, Moscow, just days back.
Kuznetsova will be making her first appearance in the WTA Finals since 2009 and it is definitely a grand occasion for her. However, against Radwanska, who has won eight matches in a row, it will be a very difficult challenge for the Russian.
Over 16 meetings, Kuznetsova lead the head-to-head record 12-4. "There is always a little bit more pressure when you really have to defend a big title, a lot of points," said Radwanska ahead of her match against Kuznetsova. "But on the other hand, when you're Top 5, Top 10, you're pretty much defending every week more or less. So just trying not to really think about it and of course just try to repeat what I did last year," she added.
Meanwhile, the match between Radwanska and Kuznetsova will be followed by a singles match between Karolina Pliskova and Garbine Muguruza.
Schedule
The first match of the day between Radwanska and Kuznetsova gets under way at 7:30 pm Singapore Time (5 pm IST) on October 24.
