WWE's (World Wrestling Entertainment) nightmare has just come true. First, it was Seth Rollins and now, it is John Cena. Both superstars are likely to miss Wrestlemania 32, scheduled for 3 April this year, at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
The two superstars have suffered long-term injuries ahead of Wrestlemania -- regarded as the grandest event in the WWE -- and the news has left WWE chairman Vince McMahon with a big headache.
The Wrestling Observer Radio, hosted by Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez, revealed that as many as six matches, which were confirmed by the pro wrestling company long back for Wrestlemania 32, have gone up in flames.
"They are redoing WrestleMania, they're going with the idea he's [John Cena] not going to be there," Meltzer said in the show. Bryan also added that WWE may have to come up with some new ideas in a very short time now. "Vince had six matches for Mania a year in advance, they all fell apart."
Cena announced on Wednesday via twitter that he will be requring a surgery on his shoulder, and also added that 2016 didn't really start on a good note for him.
The injury is believed to be a tear in the rotator cuff, for which he will be undergoing surgery in Birmingham, Alabama on Thursday. Although the origin of Cena's injury is unknown, Wrestling Observer have reported that WWE's Olympic-style weighlifting training is the reason behind the plethora of shoulder injuries happening to superstars.
Cesaro is also recuperating from a similar shoulder injury. So is Randy Orton. WWE confirmed in November last year that Orton has once again suffered a dislocated shoulder and is set to be out for an extended period of time.
Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion of the World and key figure of 'The Authority', Seth Rollins, is currently sidelined with a knee injury, also suffered in November, and there is no cetain date of his return. All these injuries leaves the entire WWE officials as well as the entire WWE Universe with major worries.
It is also still unconfirmed whether 'The Icon' Sting or the Undertaker will make their presence felt at Wrestlemania 32. However, fans can be happy with 'The Rock' Dwayne Johnson confirming that he is set to "Electrify" Wrestlemania 32.
