The comedy entertainer "Welcome Back" has shattered the records of Akshay Kumar's "Gabbar Is Back" movie at the domestic box office.
With its 11-day box office collection, "Welcome Back" broke the lifetime box office collection record of "Gabbar Is Back". John Abraham starrer "Welcome Back" box office income stands at Rs 88.12 crore, while Akshay's movie total stands at Rs 87.55 crore.
"#WelcomeBack is heading towards ₹ 100 cr in India [Week 2] Fri 2.61 cr, Sat 4.38 cr, Sun 5.41 cr, Mon 1.70 cr. Total: ₹ 88.12 cr. India biz," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the 11-day box office collection of "Welcome Back".
After "Bajrangi Bhaijaan", its "Welcome Back" that has kept the cash registers ringing at both, overseas and domestic box offices. Akshay's "Brothers" failed to impress audiences, due to which the collections recorded were average from Indian markets and low from the overseas market.
"Welcome Back" recorded more than Rs 15 crore from the overseas box office. According to Box Office India, the worldwide box office collection of "Welcome Back" has crossed Rs 150 crore mark.
"Welcome Back" will beat "ABCD 2" box office collection record of Rs 157 crore and will end up as the third highest grosser Bollywood film, the trade websites report.
Directed by Anees Bazmee, the film features John, Shruti Haasan, Anil Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Nana Patekar, Dimple Kapadia, Naseeruddin Shah and Sakshi Maggo in pivotal roles.
Meanwhile, Salman Khan's "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" has crossed Rs 600 crore mark at the worldwide box office. "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" is the second highest grosser of all time after Aamir Khan's "PK".
The worldwide box office collection of "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" is approximately Rs 603 crore.
