Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer "Udta Punjab" has shattered the lifetime box office collection record of Kareena Kapoor Khan and Arjun Kapoor starrer "Ki and Ka." Shahid-Alia starrer "Udta Punjab" is now the sixth highest grosser of 2016.
"Udta Punjab," also starring Kareena and Diljit Dosanjh, minted Rs. 55.10 crore in its lifetime run at the domestic box office, shattering the Rs. 52.31 collection record of "Ki and Ka." After a good 10-day run in India, the collection of the film declined on its 11th day, earning less than a crore on the second Monday.

The collection of "Udta Punjab" has slowed down across India, especially in the Northern region where it dominated in its first week. "Udta Punjab" collection got affected due to the release of Punjabi film "Sardaarji 2" in the northern region.
Meanwhile, at the worldwide box office the film has reached the Rs. 90 crore mark. "Udta Punjab" has taken its gross 11-day income to Rs. 90.68 crore, which includes Rs. 76.53 crore gross domestic income and Rs. 14.15 crore overseas income.
The film is expected to have a decent second week run, but the collection would go down further once Salman Khan's "Sultan" releases next week.
"Udta Punjab," produced by Anurag Kashyap's Phantom Pictures and Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms, focuses on the issue of drug trafficking in Punjab. The film features Shahid, Alia, Kareena, and Diljit in the lead roles.
