The sports drama "Sultan," starring Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma, has become the fourth biggest grosser of all time at the domestic box office and seventh highest in the international market.
Domestic Box Office
"Sultan," directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, minted Rs. 248.05 crore in 11 days at the domestic box office. The Rs. 248.05 crore nett income is the fourth highest in India, beating the lifetime domestic collection records of Hrithik Roshan's "Krrish 3" (Rs. 244.92 crore). "Sultan" will now have to beat the records of "PK" (Rs. 340.8 crore), "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" (Rs. 320.34 crore) and "Dhoom 3" (Rs. 284.27 crore) to become the biggest grosser.
"#Sultan had a STRONG Sat... Nears ₹ 250 cr mark, which should be surpassed today [Sun]... Sun, again, should be SUPERB!" trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, adding: "#Sultan [Week 2] Fri 7.43 cr, Sat 11.46 cr. Total: ₹ 248.05 cr. India biz. ATBB."
The Salman-Anushka starrer continues to break records at the box office. The film, which has achieved the all-time blockbuster status, is now Anushka and Salman's second biggest grosser in India, first being "PK" and "Bajrangi Bhaijaan."
Overseas Box Office
"Sultan" is not only shattering records in India, but also in the international market. The sports drama shattered the records of several big films at the overseas box office to become the seventh biggest grosser. In its first week, "Sultan" minted $17.46 million (Rs. 117.15 crore) at the overseas box office.
