Shah Rukh Khan-starrer "Fan" had a good first-week run at the worldwide box office. The film grossed more than Rs. 150 crore in seven days from the global centres.
Though "Fan" had an average first-week domestic run, the film had enjoyed a good theatrical run at the overseas box office. Maneesh Sharma's directorial film minted Rs. 102.14 crore gross collection from the domestic box office, while the international box offices have contributed Rs. 51 crore.
The overseas collection of "Fan" would go up further once the box office figures from all the circuits are updated. Also, the film will be released in several non-traditional overseas market, which will boost the collection from the international market.
"#Fan international release...Phase 2: Following territories have opened in the 2nd week - Morocco, Egypt, Caribbean Island, Peru," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, adding: "#Fan international release...Phase 3: Targeting to open the following territories this year - China, Japan, Turkey, Vietnam, Korea."
The thriller drama had a good run at the UAE-GCC box office, while the U.S.- Canada box office had the second-best first-week run. The film minted Rs. 19.68 crore from the Gulf region and from the North America box office it raked in Rs. 11.26 crore.
"#Fan Overseas: Week 1 $ 7.730 million [₹ 51.48 cr]... Best in UAE-GCC [$ 2.953 mn], USA-Canada [$ 1.690 mn]," Adarsh tweeted.
The film is expected to continue it's good hold in the international market, which will help the overall worldwide box office collection of the film.
Directed by Maneesh, "Fan" features Shah Rukh in a double role – Aryan Khanna and Gaurav Chandna – Waluscha de Sousa and Shriya Pilgaonkar as the lead actress and Deepika Amin and Yogendra Tiku in supporting roles.
