Despite the release of Rajinikanth's "Kabali," Salman Khan's sports drama "Sultan" had a good third-weekend run. The sports drama is now officially the third biggest Bollywood grosser at the worldwide box office.
"Sultan" has dethroned Aamir Khan's "Dhoom 3" with a gross worldwide box office collection of Rs. 547.12 crore. With a box office collection of Rs. 542 crore, Aamir's "Dhoom 3" was the third biggest Bollywood grosser and fourth worldwide, including "Baahubali: The Beginning," but now "Sultan" has overtaken the record.
"Sultan" earned approximately Rs. 145.66 crore at the overseas box office, while the domestic 19-day box office collection stands at Rs. 401.46 crore (Rs. 289.05 crore nett). "#Sultan gathered speed yet again on Sat and Sun... [Week 3] Fri 2.14 cr, Sat 3.81 cr, Sun 5.14 cr. Total: ₹ 289.05 cr. India biz," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
The Salman-Anushka Sharma starrer is inching towards shattering the records of "Baahubali," which minted Rs. 586.45 crore in its lifetime worldwide box office run.
Meanwhile in India, "Sultan" has broken the overall lifetime collection record of "Dhoom 3." The action drama earned Rs. 284.27 crore, which includes the Tamil, Telugu and Hindi version, where else "Sultan" minted Rs. 289.05 crore from the Hindi version.
