Ranveer Singh-Vaani Kapoor starrer Befikre, which was panned by critics, is inching towards the Rs 100 crore mark at the worldwide box office. Aditya Chopra's directorial, which is a contemporary love story, has so far minted over Rs 86 crore worldwide.
Worldwide box office
Befikre, starring Singh as Dharam and Kapoor as Shyra, is slowing moving towards the Rs 100 crore gross total mark. The film had a good first week run at the overseas box office, which helped it put up a good worldwide total.
The film has minted Rs 50.43 crore nett (Rs 70.04 crore gross) from its domestic run and Rs 16.36 crore from the overseas market. The eight-day domestic gross and one-week overseas income takes its worldwide box office collection to Rs 86.4 crore.
"#Befikre - OVERSEAS - Week 1: $ 2.412 million [Rs 16.36 cr]... Best in UAE-GCC [$ 972k], USA-Canada [$ 652k]... Few cinemas yet to report," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
Chopra's directorial requires Rs 14 crore more to cross the Rs 100 crore mark at the worldwide box office. If Befikre maintains a good hold at the box office in its second weekend then it might enter the coveted Rs 100 crore group by its 10th day.
Domestic box office
The Singh-Kapoor starrer has finally crossed the Rs 50 crore mark at the domestic box office. The film took eight days to cross the half-century mark in India.
Befikre started on a good note and maintained a good opening weekend, but the collection dropped drastically Monday onwards. The film earned Rs 34.43 crore in its opening weekend, Rs 45.75 crore in the first week and Rs 50.43 crore after the eighth-day run.
"#Befikre crosses Rs 50 cr mark... [Week 2] Fri 1.68 cr. Total: Rs 50.43 cr. India biz," trade Adarsh tweeted.
