"Janatha Garage" has earned Rs 59 crore at the worldwide box office in five days to become the highest earning movie in the career of Junior NTR.
The big-ticket action drama was produced with a whopping budget of Rs. 40 crore to Rs. 50 crore. The movie has been in the headlines since the day it was announced, and the promos had also boosted viewers' curiosity and expectations. The hype helped raise competition for its theatrical rights and their prices. It fetched Rs. 67.40 crore from the sale of its global distribution rights.
In a bid to cash in on Junior NTR mania, the distributors released "Janatha Garage" in over 2,000 screens across the country. It is the highest number for a movie with the young tiger. The movie, which had superb advance booking, opened to massive response and was rock-steady on the weekend.
The film also fared well at the ticket counters across India on Ganesh Chaturthi holiday on Monday.
"Janatha Garage" collected approximately Rs. 129 crore gross at the worldwide box office in five days. The movie is estimated to have earned Rs. 59.18 crore for its global distributors. The film has returned 87 per cent of investment to its distributors and it is expected to recover another 13 per cent by the end of its opening weekend.
In just five days, "Janatha Garage" has become the biggest earner of Junior NTR, beating his previous record set by "Nannaku Prematho", which earned Rs 53.20 crore in the global market in its lifetime. It has emerged as the second film to earn Rs 50 crore for the actor.
