It seems Warner Bros. has finally found the actress who will play Wonder Woman's (Gal Gadot) mother in the upcoming DC Extended Universe's "Wonder Woman" movie.
The Hollywood Reporter has mentioned that Connie Nielsen will essay the role of Hippolyta, the Amazonian Queen and mother of Diana Prince aka Wonder Woman.
Nielsen has acted in a number of movies that has garnered critical acclaims. She debuted with "The Devil's Advocate" in 1997. She was praised for her role of Lucilla in "Gladiator" (2000) and has also acted alongside Shia LaBeouf in "Nymphomaniac" (2013).
The 50-year-old actress has joined the cast of "Wonder Woman" along with Ewen Bremner ("Exodus: Gods"), Lucy Davis ("Shaun of the Dead"), Danny Huston ("Clash of the Titans"), Robin Wright ("The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo"), Saïd Taghmaoui ("American Hustle") and Chris Pine ("Star Trek").
Patty Jenkins will direct "Wonder Woman" movie from a script written by Jason Fuchs, writer of "Pan". Hoyte van Hoytema, who was the director of photography for "Interstellar" (2014), will supervise the cinematography.
Gal Gadot will make her debut as Wonder Woman in this year's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" that is all set to hit the theatres on 25 March, 2016.
The movie will star Henry Cavill (Clark Kent/Superman), Ben Affleck (Bruce Wayne/Batman), Jesse Eisenberg (Lex Luthor) and Jeremy Irons (Alfred Pennyworth).
According to the synopsis by IMDb, "Wonder Woman" tells the story of an Amazon princess who comes to the world of men to become one of the greatest super-heroines.
"Wonder Woman" will hit the theatres across the world on 23 June, 2017.
