International Women's Day is observed on March 8 every year across the world to celebrate and appreciate the achievements of women. The International Women's Day 2016 is dedicated to all women, be it a mother, daughter, sister or wife.

However, the Indian entertainment industry never required a particular day to show a woman's strength and courage. It has, over the years, made many women-centric films that managed to turn out as the box office hits.

So much so that in some cases few Bollywood actresses left the male actor behind in performing some high-octane action sequences. From Deepika Padukone in "Bajirao Mastani" to Priyanka Chopra in "Mary Kom," these pretty ladies have captured hearts in the avatars of an action hero.

PeeCee has mesmerised the audience with her brilliant performance in "Mary Kom," in which she played the character of a boxer. Though Deepika has shown a few moves in Akshay Kumar-starrer "Chandni Chowk to China," she has stolen hearts in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Bajirao Mastani." Her warrior avatar was highly appreciated, which landed her in Hollywood opposite Vin Diesel in action-film "xXx: The Return of Xander Cage."

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

Aishwarya has not only captured hearts with her beautiful looks, but has also surprised audience as a action hero. People got to see some of her moves in "Dhoom 2" and "Jodha Akbar", both opposite Hrithik Roshan. Recently, she performed action sequences in her comeback film "Jazbaa" as well.

Bollywood diva Shraddha Kapoor has mesmerised viewers with her dance moves in "ABCD 2" but now she is set to show some action with her upcoming film "Baaghi: Rebels in Love." She will be seen sharing space with one of the best dancers and action hero, Tiger Shroff.

Telugu star Tamannaah Bhatia looked stunning in last year's blockbuster film "Baahubali," which was also dubbed in Hindi. Apart from her pretty looks, she had also impressed viewers with her action sequences as well.

Anushka Sharma

Anushka Sharma surprised audience with her intense role in "NH10," and now she will be seen as a boxer in "Sultan" opposite Salman Khan. The actress will be seen fighting with some real life boxers in the flick.
