A young Delhi woman allegedly suffocated to death while attending the Skrillex concert in Gurgaon on Sunday as the venue was overcrowded, with more than 10,000 people showing up for the event.
Aanchal Arora, 23, fainted while dancing at the Skrillex concert, the first by the EDM artist in the country, and was declared dead when she was rushed to a nearby hospital.
According to doctors, the woman died from a vasovagal attack, which is triggered due to suffocation, Hindustan Times reported.
As per reports, more than 10,000 people gathered at the venue despite organisers making arrangements only for about 5,000.
Another friend of the Delhi woman also collapsed in the crowd and is under intensive care, The Times of India reported.
"She died possibly due to suffocation but we have sent the viscera for investigation. She was brought to the hospital with a flat line, which means no pulse rate. Doctors administered CPR, but she couldn't be revived and was finally declared dead," the doctor who conducted the postmortem on Aanchal's body was quoted as saying by TOI.
The Gurgaon Police have blamed the organisers for not managing the huge crowd.
"The event was not well-managed. While seeking an NOC for the event, the organisers had said they expected a crowd of about 5,000. But, nearly 10,000 people turned up for the concert. The venue was congested," a police official told HT.
The woman's father lodged a complaint that the police have registered under section 29/1/14 of the Punjab Excise Act.
