Sunset Overdrive Gets Gameplay Trailer
Sunset Overdrive, from developer Insomniac Games, gets a new video, showcasing the weapons in the open-world title.
Brandon Winfrey, associate community manger at Insomniac Games, said in a statement that the studio treats the game's weapons as characters, and this comes from its goal to create the best range of weapons for Sunset Overdrive.
"At Insomniac we pride ourselves on making memorable and unique weapons, like the Rhino from Ratchet and Clank or the Bullseye from Resistance," said Winfrey, reported CVG.
"Weapons are kind of our thing and to us they're characters themselves, so we set the bar pretty high for ourselves going into Sunset. We wanted to create the best arsenal of weapons we've ever done and we think we did."
The three-minute video speaks about the weapons in the game. Showcasing the Hi Fidelity weapon, Winfrey says that with its richocet, players will be able to create more damage to multiple enemies where players can bounce off them.
Then there is the T.N.Teddy which is a fun filled weapon that can be used to kill a large number of enemies. The weapon throws up teddies with dynamites and explodes on impact.
Questions were also answered regarding the melee in Sunset Overdrive. The developer said that melee will be highly customizable and does not have a combo system per se. He also said that the single player will be different from the multiplayer one, with the single player having a bigger campaign with lots of side content.
Other weapons which were on show include: AK-FU, Captain Ahab, Hover Turret, Excalumune, Roman Candle and many more.
The game is set in a dystopian world where a corporation called FizzCo controls everything. The protagonist of the game is an employee of the corporation, who has to save the world from the affected humans who drink the new energy drink Overcharge Delirium XT which causes mutation in humans.
Combat agility is the main focuses of the game, allowing players to run on walls, use zip-lines, skateboard and use acrobatics in the game.
The game will be an Xbox One exclusive and will be released in 2014.
