Londons biggest music festival is almost upon us with Wireless Festival preparing to open its gates for another year. The pop bonanza will see the biggest names in pop, hip hop and dance entertain Finsbury Park with Calvin Harris, Boy Better Know and The 1975 among those on the line-up.

Wireless 2016 is hosted across three days kicking off on Friday 8 July and drawing to a close on Sunday 10 July. Celebrating this years bill of performers, festival director Melvin Benn previously told IBTimes UK: Calvin Harris making his first full live appearance in London for three or fours years – hes a huge megastar.

You cant move in America or the rest of the world without seeing posters of Calvin Harris. Chase and Status, theyre a London act and this is what London are singing about. Boy Better Know, phenomenal London act and Kygo coming over from Norway for his first-ever headline act. Wireless represents the music of London and thats one of the joys of it in my view.

Before you head down to the London park, IBTimes UK lists all the essential information you need to know.

TRAVEL

The areas surrounding Finsbury Park are sure to be extra busy to make sure to plan your journey – and alternative routes – before setting off. SECURITY

Wireless have promised to take stronger security measures for the 2016 event following the previous years failings. Director Benn said in April: Its all really about structure of security. Im certainly anticipating around 20-25% additional security personnel. Interestingly there were very little security personnel attached to the exterior of the event last year and that will be a big improvement.

The security personnel will be zoned into areas and theyll have areas to control. Theyll have better training, better managers and proper structure above them. Last year, in my view, there was inadequate structure. I have two former chief superintendents to run the security operation.

WEATHER

Wireless may get off to a wet start with showers expected on Friday morning in London before clearing up in the early afternoon. On the bright side – quite literally – there should be moments of some sun with temperatures reaching 22 and 23C over the weekend.

IBTimes UKs A-List will be presenting footage from the festival via Facebook Live.
