Heavy snowfall has caused havoc in Himachal Pradesh, stranding thousands of vehicles and causing trouble to tourists as several roads were cut off in the state.
Reports said that over 180 roads in the state were blocked, stranding about 10,000 vehicles. Tourists heading to Manali to enjoy the scenic snow had to walk for hours as the highway leading to the place was closed due to snowfall.
Cold waves continue to disrupt the normal lives of the people in several parts of India and three casualties were reported. A woman and her son were killed in Kinnaur district after a snow-covered tree fell on their house. Another person fell victim to the avalanche in Chamba district.
Extreme cold weather has claimed over a hundred lives in India this winter. Several places, especially the northern region, recorded below than the average temperature. The fog has disrupted flights and train schedules in many places.
