Microsoft started rolling out the Windows 10 Mobile update to select handsets, including the Lumia 930, Lumia 640, Lumia 730, Lumia 830, Lumia 430 and several others last month after much delay. Unlike Apple's iOS wherein one can't downgrade a device after signing window of the older version is closed, Microsoft has given option to Lumia device users to roll back to Window 8.1.
The company will allow users, who don't like Windows 10 Mobile, to downgrade to the old Window 8.1 version, but Jason, Programme Manager on the Windows Insider Engineering team at Microsoft, has tweeted that they need to use a recovery image.
Users of Microsoft devices opting for a downgrade of OS has to back up personal data as the roll back process will erase data in the phone.
Microsoft has announced that Windows 10 Mobile update will be available to the Lumia 1520, Lumia 930, Lumia 640, Lumia 640XL, Lumia 730, Lumia 735, Lumia 830, Lumia 532, Lumia 535, Lumia 540, Lumia 635 1GB, Lumia 636 1GB, Lumia 638 1GB, Lumia 430, Lumia 435, BLU Win HD w510u, BLU Win HD LTE x150q and MCJ Madosma Q501.
Those waiting for Microsoft to announce the Windows 10 Mobile update schedule for the devices running Windows 8.0 are in for a disappointment as it will not happen. The company had initially said that handsets running Windows 8.0 would get the new software update, but it backtracked later.
