Sania Mirza started her professional career as a singles player, but switched to doubles, and found considerable success. The India star has played alongside quality players like Elena Vesnina, Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Cara Black, but she has found the most success after joining hands with Martina Hingis last year.
The Indo-Swiss pair hit the ground running with some incredible wins last year, winning a number of titles. Sania-Hingis have clinched three Grand Slam titles so far, winning Wimbledon and US Open last year, and the Australian Open earlier in 2016. The pair, seeded first for Wimbledon 2016, will be keen to clinch their fourth Grand Slam by winning the title at the All England Club.
Though the pair will be huge favourites to win the title in London, they have to be on top of their game throughout the tournament. After their third round exit from the French Open in May, 'Santina' will be keen to deliver on the grass courts of Wimbledon.
The defending champions have a potential banana skin in first round of Wimbledon, having drawn Anna-Lena Friedsam and Laura Siegemund.
Caroline Garcia and Kristina Mladenovic, the in-form team and French Open champions, have been seeded second, which means a potential final against Sania and Hingis awaits.
Santina's first biggest test in Wimbledon 2016 may lie against the 13th seeds, Vania King and Alla Kudryavtseva, which could be a cracking contest, and the top seeds cannot take things for granted. King and Kudrayavtseva are experienced doubles players, and they have the ammunition to stun Sania and Hingis.
The competition is only going to get tougher as the tournament progresses, and the Indo-Swiss pair could run into a tough semifinals match against the third seeds Chan Hao- Ying and Chan Yun Jan, which, if they are on top of their game, they will fancy their chances of winning.
Sania-Hingis have it in them to win the title, there is no doubt about that. They are a treat to watch, and you know they are playing well when they are smiling on the court. With Sania being a dangerous player from the baseline, and Hingis dominating the game at the net, they have played some wonderful tennis in the last 15 months or so.
After having won some huge titles, their understanding has also improved along with their games, which makes them a force in the women's doubles, capable of adding another title to their list of trophies.
