Canadian sensation Eugenie Bouchard will face Angelique Kerber, while third-seed Simona Halep will be up against Sabine Lisicki in the quarterfinals of The Championships.
Bouchard defeated Alize Cornet of France, while Kerber got the better of former champion Maria Sharapova to move into the last eight. Their head-to-head is tied at one match apiece but Bouchard won the most recent clash at the French Open.
The 20-year-old has been a consistent performer on the tour and is bidding for her third straight semifinals appearance at a major event. However, Bouchard insisted that she is not thinking about personal milestones and is taking one match at a time.
"I'm very excited to be in another major quarterfinal, but I need to stay focused," Bouchard said. "Of course, I want to go further, but it's important not to be distracted and to take it one match at a time."
Meanwhile, Halep of Romania and Germany's Lisicki will open proceedings at the centre court on Wednesday. Lisicki defeated unseeded Yaroslava Shvedova in a hard-fought fourth round encounter in just under two hours.
The 19th seed said she battled for every point in the match, despite facing difficulties while serving. She added that her last year's final appearance motivated her in battling past the Kazak.
"That also helped me today, to be honest, to just push it through," Lisicki said. "I was fighting with all my heart. I couldn't really serve, but I was digging in there, and fighting for every single point."
"I love this place so much, and the crowd gave me such big support again. It really helps," she added.
Halep got the better of Zarina Diyas in an easy fourth round match and is the favourite in the tie. The Romanian leads the German in head-to-head as she has won two out of three clashes against the former finalist, including their most recent match in Madrid.
