Institutions in Maharashtra's Satara district are all set for premature Mother's Day celebrations if instructions of educational officials are anything to go by.
In an extraordinary move, all schools and colleges have been directed to celebrate Valentine's Day on Saturday as Mother's Day and sing poems dedicated to mothers, an official said on Friday.
The strict circular sent out to all schools and colleges regarding the same has kicked up a raging controversy in academic circles, reports IANS.
It was sent to hundreds of public and private primary schools and around 25 colleges in the district on 11 February, asking them to celebrate V-Day with a difference by dedicating it to mothers.
All educational institutions were also directed to make the students sing a well-known poem, 'Hambrun Vasar Aale Chaat-ti Jawa Gai', dedicated to mothers.
They were further instructed to immortalise the new style of V-Day celebrations by clicking photographs and submitting them to the district education officer.
