The confusion around the release of Kamal Haasan's Vishwaroopam 2 continues as advance booking for the film has not begun in Tamil Nadu. Leading cinema halls are not keen to start the pre-booking until the film clears its legal hurdles.
Generally, the advance booking for the movies of A-list actors begins at least a week before the film release. In the case of Vishwaroopam 2, the exhibitors are yet to sell the tickets and the online bookings in leading cinema halls like Mayajaal and SPI Cinemas have not started.
Nikilesh Surya, the executive director of Rohini Silver Screens, tweeted, "Once #Vishwaroopam2 release is confirmed we will open bookings @rohinisilverscr waiting for the official announcement that all problems are sorted. [sic]"
The print advertisements released on Monday had not listed the theatres where the film would be screened, giving rise to rumours that the film might not open in time.
However, advertisements in Tuesday's leading publications have listed the names of theatres, adding to the confusion.
Production Pyramid Saimira has approached the court, seeking a stay on the film's release until Kamal Haasan clears the money that he had taken to revive his long-pending project Marma Yogi.
Pyramid Saimira claimed to have paid Rs 4 crore to Kamal Haasan to revive his long-pending movie. Marma Yogi has not seen any progress and the Ulaganayagan has not shown interest in either starting the project or in returning their money, the company alleges.
Hence, the production house has demanded Kamal Haasan to return the money with interest, which comes to Rs 5.44 crore.
This is not the first time where a Kamal Haasan's movie is facing last-minute issues. Earlier, Vishwaroopam and Uttama Villain had landed in similar issues.
Meanwhile, the advance booking of Vishwaroopam 2, which has Pooja Kumar and Andrea Jeremiah in the female leads, has started in a few single screens in Bengaluru.
