In the last couple of days, social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook have been flooded with the Tollywood celebrities' posts that expressed their shock and regret over the disaster caused by the deadly cyclone Hudhud in Vizag.
But one shocking factor is that most of the stars who spoke about the incident are men. Except a few, what are the rest of the women in the industry doing?
Most of the leading Telugu actors have expressed their solidarity and came forward to the support of the people, who are affected by the Hudhud. Heroes like Chirnajeevi, Balakrishna, Pawan Kalyan, Mahesh Babu, NTR, Prabhas, Ram Charan, Allu Arjun, Ram, Sundeep Kishan and many others have made donation for the relief fund. Along with their fans, some like Pawan Kalyan and Manchu Manoj are working to provide food, water and other stuffs to the victim.
Probably, Rakul Preet Singh, who is basking in the success of her recent release Loukyam, was the first Telugu actress to offer her prayers for the victims on Twitter.
The actress tweeted, "My prayers to all d people affected by #HudhudAP .may god give strength to all of u!! #nature is so unpredictable.. Let's all pray together.
Rakul Preet Singh has also become a real-life heroine by donating ₹1 lakh for the relief fund. She has done three films in Telugu and her donation seems to be decent amount when compared to other leading actors' contribution. Lakshmi Manchu is another actress, who has offered prayers. She is also said to have donated some amount of money for the relief works. Kajal Aggarwal donated ₹5 lakh for the cause
Lately, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, who is currently busy shooting for her upcoming film in the US, took to her Twitter page on 15 October to express her shock over the disaster. She tweeted, "Horrible horrible news #HudhudAftermath. Time for us to do our bit." The actress, who is known for her charity works, has also donated ₹10 lakh for the relief fund.
But, there are a host of leading actresses like Trisha, Nayantara, Anushka Shetty, Tamanna Bhatia, Shruti Haasan, Tapsee Pannu, Ileana D'Cruz, Charmi Kaur and a few others, who draw more than ₹1 crore as remuneration for a film. Some of them seem to be least bothered about the victims in the state, while others are busy talking about fashion. However, whether they will donate for the relief fund in the future is something that one must wait and see.
