After receiving a lot of accolades for his performance in Salman Khan-starrer "Bajrangi Bhaijaan", Nawazuddin Siddiqui is now all set to hit the screen with his upcoming flick "Manjhi-The Mountain Man".
While, Siddiqui was seen portraying the role of a Pakistani TV journalist in "Bajrangi Bhaijaan", the versatile actor will don the role of a farmer in "Manjhi-The Mountain Man", the story of which is based on the life of Dashrath Manjhi, a farmer in Bihar also known as "Mountain Man", who became popular after carving a path through a mountain with the help of just a hammer and a chisel.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui has established a name in the industry with his performance in films like "Gangs of Wasseypur", "Badlapur", "Kahani", "Kick" and most recently "Bajrangi Bhaijaan", which made him very popular in Pakistan as well. He played the role of a real-life TV reporter in Pakistan, named Chand Nawab in "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" and now the actor is ready to appear on the screen as a real-life farmer, Dashrath Manjhi.
As a matter of fact, this is the first time that Siddiqui will play a solo lead in a movie. Although he played dominating roles in his past releases like "Gangs of Wasseypur" and "Badlapur", those films also included other lead actors.
Post the success of "Bajrangi Bhaijaan", Siddiqui's popularity has reached a different level and the actor has earned fans across the borders. Reports suggest that he has been receiving phone calls not only from India, but also from Pakistan and other nations, congratulating him for his performance in the movie.
Apparently, the actor feels that the response he received for "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" will help his upcoming movie "Manjhi-The Mountain Man".
"It's a good feeling when people appreciate you for good work. I am excited and confident now with the whole response the trailer of 'Manjhi' has got," the Times of India quoted Siddiqui earlier.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui is indeed one of the best actors Bollywood has today and "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" has doubled his popularity as well, but is he popular enough to create a box office hit on his own? The answer will be evident after the release of "Manjhi-The Mountain Main".
Directed by Ketan Mehta, "Majhi-The Mountain Man" also features Radhika Apte and is slated to release on 21 August.
