Ashutosh Gowariker's upcoming period drama "Mohenjo Daro" could have a new onscreen pair in Hrithik Roshan and Sonakshi Sinha, if things fall in place.
Gowariker's film, which is based on Harappan civilization with a central love story, has been in the news for quite some time. After the film's male lead Roshan was confirmed, speculations surrounding the female lead started circulating.
After names like Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor did the rounds, it is now being said that Sinha has expressed interest in the project. The pretty actress is said to be quite eager to be a part of the period film and has even met Gowariker to discuss the film.
"Sonakshi had an over hour-long meeting with Ashutosh a few days ago and discussed the intricacies of the role. She is quite kicked about the part as it is something she hasn't attempted yet," a source revealed to Mumbai Mirror.
When the tabloid enquired about Kaif being the frontrunner for the film the source added, "The role requires the leading lady to look exotic, but in a very Indian way. Sonakshi looks the part. However, Ashutosh will take a final call once he wraps up the TV show on 'Mt Everest', which he is producing."
With Kaif's name still in the race, it remains to be seen whether Sinha manages to outdo the "Dhoom 3" actress and bag "Mohenjo Daro."
If Sinha signs the dotted line, audience will witness a fresh pair onscreen. It should be pointed out that Sinha is self confessedly a diehard fan of the "Krrish 3" actor and has previously expressed a desire to work with the star.
A previous report by Bollywood Life had reported that the director was indeed approached by some actresses for the female lead, but he had Kapoor and Chopra in his mind for the role. Reports further speculated about a sense of competition between the actresses for the role.
While Padukone was the director's first choice, the leggy lass is said to have turned down the offer due to date issues.
On the otherhand, Sinha, in her four-year-old film career has already worked with biggies like Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn and younger actors like Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor and Imran Khan. A film with Roshan will be another feather on the cap.
