If latest reports are to be believed, then film producer Ratan Jain might come up with a sequel to Shah Rukh Khan's blockbuster "Baazigar".
Though Ratan has plans of a sequel to the 1993 film, he will not begin the project without Shah Rukh.
"Yes, I am contemplating with the idea of the sequel to 'Baazigar', but not right now. I am busy with my other projects. May be three to four years down the line, I will make a sequel to 'Baazigar'," he told IANS.
"However, I will not make the sequel without Shah Rukh. So let's see how things fall in place. It's too early to comment on anything at this point of time."
"Baazigar" (Gambler), which featured Shah Rukh in a negative role opposite Shilpa Shetty and Kajol, was directed by Abbas-Mustan and produced by Ratan's brother Ganesh Jain. It marked Shilpa Shetty's debut in Bollywood and was Shah Rukh's first film with Kajol. It is not known if the two actresses will be roped in for the sequel.
Ratan is currently busy scripting the sequel to "Dhadkan", a 2000 love-triangle flick that starred Shilpa Shetty, Akshay Kumar and Sunil Shetty. Briefing about the upcoming project Ratan said, "The film is in its scripting stage. It will be a fresh film and not a continuation. We won't repeat the same star cast. It will have a new star cast."
Now that Ratan has planned for a sequel to "Baazigar" and has declared that he won't go ahead with the project sans Shah Rukh, the audience is desperately waiting for the superstar's response. Shah Rukh is presently shooting for Rohit Shetty's "Chennai Express" opposite Deepika Padukone.
