Salman, Shah Rukh and Aamir Khan are decidedly three of the trusted money-minters of Bollywood. But, the coming year might be different for all three.
Yash Raj Films has booked "Sultan" for Eid 2016, and so have the makers of "Raees". While both the production houses are firmly rooted to their decision of releasing the films on the same day, trade analyst Komal Nahta said eventually one of the two may be rescheduled.
While talking to DNA, Nahta further elaborated putting out two big films on the same day would affect the box office collections in a major way.
"If Raees and Sultan indeed clash for Eid 2016, it will be bad for both films as they will cut into each other's collections. I feel better sense will eventually prevail and the release date of one of the films will shift from Eid to another day."
However, what's interesting to note here is, last time Salman and SRK went head to head, the latter won. "Don" was declared a hit, whereas "Jaanemann" tanked terribly.
For the time being, Shah Rukh's fans can breathe a sigh of relief; but Aamir's followers have something to worry about.
The "PK" actor has been preparing for "Dangal", a partially inspired film on wrestler Mahavir Phogat's life, for a few months now. To look the part, he has put on a mammoth amount of weight.
The interesting bit is, Salman too will be essaying the role of a 40-year-old wrestler in "Sultan", which will be released a few months ahead of "Dangal". Two wrestling films in quick succession could be monotonous for the cine-goers, and at the same time impact "Dangal" box-office collection in a big way.
However, all of this is too soon to predict.
Now, the question remains whether Salman's "Sultan" alone can slay SRK and Aamir's box-office mojo? Only time will tell.
