Bollywood actors Salman Khan and Aamir Khan may be set to reunite on screen for the sequel of 1994 classic comedy "Andaz Apna Apna".
Filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi has already confirmed that he will begin shooting for the sequel by the year end, but it is yet to be seen whether Salman and Aamir will come together to recreate the spell. "Andaz Apna Apna", which also starred Karishma Kapoor and Raveena Tandon, had bombed at the box office after its release, but it had over time gained popularity and achieved a cult status.
"We will be discussing the project with Aamir and Salman. It would be great if that works out. Otherwise, we'll sign up some other actors to play the lead," producer Vinay Kumar revealed to The Times of India,
Kumar had earlier approached Santoshi for the project. The film is due to go on floors by the third week of December, after Santoshi wraps up "Phata Poster Nikla Hero" which stars Shahid Kapoor.
Banking on the idea of a remake, Vinay Kumar said, "People were asking me to do a sequel ever since the film became a hit. At that time, I was not too sure, if the Indian audience is ready for a second part. But, now the time is ripe. Remakes and sequels are in vogue. "
Now the question remains whether Salman and Aaamir will give their consent to the project.
Aamir on several instances expressed his desire to work with his good friend Salman. Considering the cordial relation they share and the astounding success of "Andaz Apna Apna", it is quite likely that the actors may team up again for the sequel.
Recently, Aaamir said he wished Salman was part of the title song in "Bombay Talkies" along with him. The "Dabangg" star has reportedly refused to do a cameo in the song as it featured his long-time rival Shah Rukh.
