Manchester United has signed Arsenal's Robin van Persie for a whopping £24 million and team manager Sir Alex Ferguson is said to be very keen to introduce him for Monday night's English Premier League (EPL) opening match against Everton but it is not very sure if he will make his debut tonight as he hasn't played much of late.
Netherlands striker Van Persie, who was transferred from Arsenal to Manchester United, underwent a medical in the new club till the early hours of Friday.
It is reported that Sir Alex Ferguson is not sure if he should let the new striker make his debut for the team tonight as he hasn't played much football of late. The manager had earlier said that he would asses him for a few days and speak to him before taking the final decision whether he should play or put him on the bench.
Sir Alex Ferguson, who earlier said that Van Persie would be available for Monday night's game, is expected to announce at the last minute if he will play against Everton.
Manchester United will play Everton at Goodison Park in the EPL opening match which will start at 00.30 am IST (Tuesday).
The 29-year-old Dutch striker has agreed for a four-year contract and is worth £200,000 a week at Old Trafford.
"Arsenal Football Club can confirm that terms have been agreed for the transfer of Robin van Persie to Manchester United," read a statement in Arsenal official site. "Van Persie will travel to Manchester on Thursday in order to agree personal terms and complete a medical ahead of the proposed move."
Manchester United also had announced that the Dutch player will move to Old Trafford from Arsenal soon.
"Manchester United is pleased to announce it has reached agreement with Arsenal Football Club for the transfer of Robin van Persie. The deal is subject to a medical and the agreement of personal terms. A further announcement will be made in due course," said a statement from the club.
