Shivaraj Kumar's Kannada movie "Shivalinga" has opened to fantastic reviews, and has done good business in its first weekend in Karnataka. This has possibly paved the way for the rumours of its remake in other languages.
The buzz says following the good response for "Shivalinga" from the Kannada audience, director P Vasu has decided to remake the film in Tamil. It is well known that the director has a good relationship with Rajinikanth, and might want the Tamil superstar to play the lead role in it.
P Vasu had earlier remade his Kannada film "Apthamitra," which itself was inspired by the Malayalam blockbuster "Manichitrathazhu," in Tamil with Rajinikanth starring in it. But it is also well known that the superstar had turned down the offer to act in its sequel "Aptharakshaka" a few ago for some reason.
However, the director has not revealed his plans yet, but might possibly open up on it in the coming days. There are also rumours that the film might be made in Telugu with Nagarjuna in the lead.
"Shivalinga" is a horror film made on the lines of "Apthamitra." It features Shivaraj Kumar as a CID officer who tries to solve a mysterious case after his wife is possessed by a spirit.
"Shivalinga" has Vedhika in the female lead. Urvashi, Ashok, Vinaya Prasad, Avinash, Pradeep Rawat, Malavika Avinash, Sadhu Kokila and others are in the cast. V Harikrishna has composed the music, PKH Das has handled the cinematography and Suresh Urs is the editor of the Kannada film.
The Kannada flick has kept the cash registers ringing at the Sandalwood box office. The good word-of-mouth has helped the flick perform well and the collection is expected to improve in the coming days.
