The latest buzz in tinsel town is that Karan Johar may reunite Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor on the big screen for his upcoming venture titled "Shuddhi".
Karan had earlier confirmed that the male lead in his upcoming film will be played by Hrithik, but did not reveal the female lead who will be playing opposite the actor.
Reports said that Karan has approached Bollywood actress and close friend Kareena Kapoor to take up the role.
Hrithik and Kareena were last seen together in Sooraj Barjatya's 2003 film "Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon". The duo also co-starred in movies like "Yaadein," "Mujhse Dosti Karoge!" and "Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham."
Meanwhile Karan Malhotra, the director of the film, hinted that the filmmakers are also considering Deepika Padukone for the female lead as well.
"You must understand that this is something I can't speak about at all," Malhotra told Hindustan Times.
"They (Kareena and Deepika) are the finest actresses today. So when you write a script, they are the first names that come to mind... The moment the actor gets finalised, I will be able to talk in detail."
"Shuddhi" will mark the comeback of the successful trio Hrithik, producer-director Karan Johar and Karan Malhotra who gave one of the biggest hits of 2012 "Agneepath."
Speaking about the upcoming venture Malhotra said, "We are very excited about this project," IANS reported. "The film will go on floors in November. It is slated for a 2014 release."
Confirming the release date and male lead of the movie, Karan said "These days it is very important to have the release date in order. Shuddhi is a love story at its heart and with Hrithik's intensity, he will be seen in a completely different avatar than in Agneepath," reported Mid-Day.
"This is a big budget film and with its theme and qualities and the vision that we have, it warrants a celebration period like Diwali for its release," he added.
