Pawan Kalyan's "AD", which was released on 27 September, has broken several records in southern states as well as at the US box office. The film emerged as the highest first week grosser, earning over ₹49 crore. It has also set new records in the US, earning more ₹15 crore (including reported and non-reported screens) in just 12 days.
Following the massive success of "AD", the Telugu film industry has now shifted its focus on "RV", directed by Harish Shankar. It may be recalled that Harish worked with Pawan Kalyan in his last release, "Gabbar Singh", which turned to be a blockbuster in 2012.
This is the first time that the director is teaming up with Jr NTR and their combination has garnered high expectations among fans. It remains to been if the duo will be able to satisfy the audience and deliver a successful film. The pre-release buzz of "RV" is quite good, thanks to Jr NTR's star power, impressive trailer and songs.
The film, touted to be an action-packed entertainer, is expected to have a record release across the globe. Apart from key markets in India, "RV" will hit theatres in overseas areas including US, Canada, Dubai, Qatar, Bahrain, Germany, Switzerland and Netherlands.
With no big releases, "RV" is expected to make a grand opening on its first day. The first weekend collections are crucial to decide the fate of a film. The Jr NTR starrer is likely to get big collections in its first three days owing to Dussehra holidays.
Produced by Dil Raju, "RV" has Samantha Ruth Prabhu playing the female lead, while Shruti Haasan makes a special appearance. The film's songs, composed by Thaman, have already turned out to be chartbusters.
