Actress Pooja Hegde, who is basking in the success of the Telugu film, "Oka Laila Kosam", shares a few common things with Bollywood divas like Deepika Padukone and Aishwarya Rai. And a few in B-Town think that her debut Bollywood film "Mohenjo Daro" will take her to the level of these two stars.
Deepika Padukone and Aishwarya Rai were born in the families that have their roots in Karnataka. Like them, Pooja Hegde's parents are also from Udupi in Karnataka and she was born and brought up in Mumbai. Like them, she also first took up modelling as career. She has been crowned as the second runner-up at the Miss Universe India 2010.
Aishwarya and Deepika made their acting debut through Southern films like "Iruvar" (Tamil) and "Aishwarya" (Kannada) respectively. They grabbed the attention of Bollywood film-makers with their wonderful performance in these films. Then, they forayed into B-Town with the films like "Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya" and "Om Shanti Om" respectively.
Pooja Hegde made her acting debut with Mysskin's Tamil film "Mugamoodi" opposite Jiiva. Much before she started shooting for her second film "Oka Laila Kosam", which marks her debut in Tollywood, she got her first Bollywood offer – "Mohenjo Daro", in which she stars opposite none other than Superstar Hrithik Roshan.
Pooja Hegde has got another break with "Oka Laila Kosam", which is doing well at the box office. Released on 17 October, the film has won a lot of accolades for her. She has another Telugu movie, titled "Mukunda", which is scheduled to release in October.
"Mohenjo Daro" is a romantic adventure film, which has been written, directed and produced by "Lagaan" and "Jodhaa Akbar" fame Ashutosh Gowariker. Talking about its story, the filmmaker said the film will largely centre on a love story, while its plot will follow the discovery of Mohenjo-Daro and the culture and the vibe of the ancient civilisation.
In his press note, Ashutosh Gowariker praised Pooja Hegde a lot. "I am extremely happy to have found Pooja Hegde. She is very natural as an actress and has an elegance and poise that will make the character attractive and endearing. Both these strengths with a degree of freshness add the required spark to the Mohenjo Daro love story," Gowariker had told PTI after casting her.
Coming back to Aishwarya and Deepika, they have hit the peaks in Bollywood in a very short span of time. They have established themselves as most-sought-after actresses in the Indian film industry. Considering the kind of Bollywood offer that she has bagged, Pooja Hegde has all the chance of become the actress in demand.
