There is a strong buzz that the first look poster and the title of Ajith's "Thala 55" will be released on Ganesh Chathurthi, which falls on 29 August.
Rumours regarding the film's title have been doing the rounds for the last few months. Names such as "Aayiram Thottakkal" (1000 bullets) and "Sathya" are being speculated as the title for "Thala 55."
Director Gautham Menon is expected to announce the film's title along with its poster on the auspicious day.
The director is also expected to announce the film's release date on the same day. Gautham was quoted saying that some dates will be announced in a week's time, according to the Times of India.
It is being speculated that he will make an announcement on the film's release date on the festive day. However, there is no official confirmation regarding this.
Earlier, it was reported that "Thala 55" will hit the screens in November. The latest buzz is that the film will release only for Pongal 2015. It may be recalled that Ajith's last release "Veeram" hit the screens during Pongal in January 2014.
The festival period proved lucky for Ajith as "Veeram" performed well at the box office despite clashing with Vijay's "Jilla."
If "Thala 55" hits theatres for Pongal 2015, it will be facing strong competition from another biggie. Vikram-Vijay's "Paththu Endrathukulle" is also reportedly gearing up for a Pongal release. Moreover, the makers of Vishal-Sundar C's "Aambala" are also planning to release the film during the festival period.
"Thala 55" is one of the most-awaited upcoming Tamil films. This is the first time that Ajith has teamed up with Gautham. The film, touted to be an action thriller, will reportedly have Ajith playing as an investigative officer. Anushka Shetty and Trisha Krishnan will be seen as the female leads. Trisha is reportedly playing as Ajith's wife and her part will appear in the flashback portions.
For the first time, actor Arun Vijay will be playing the role of a baddie in the film. Thalaivasal Vijay and Vivek are also part of the film's cast.
The music of "Thala 55" is composed by Harris Jayaraj. The action entertainer is produced by A. M. Ratnam.
