Ram Madhvani was supposed to direct a woman-centric film with Kajol in the lead, but the actress had opted out. After Kajol opted out, there were reports that the woman-centric film has been shelved.

But it looks like that the "Neerja" director is in no mood to let the film go. Reports suggest that the director has now approached Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who was the first choice, for the lead role.

The director had approached Aishwarya initially, but due to her date issues the movie went to Kajol. Ajay Devgn also came on board of the film as a producer and made an official announcement about Kajol making her comeback with Ram's film. However, the deal did not work out, as Kajol reportedly asked for an "unaffordable" fee.

And now, the director is back to his original choice. The director is excited to do a woman-centric film with the former Miss World, but it has not been confirmed whether the "Sarbjit" actress has given her nod or not.

"Ram is very enthu about making the Penoza adaptation with Ash," Spotboye.com quoted a source as saying.

The woman-centric film is an adaptation of the popular Dutch TV series "Penoza," which revolves around the story of a Mafia mother Carmen who gets involved in the crime world after her husband's death. The story is about how Carmen enters the crime world to protect her children and trace her husband's killer.

Meanwhile, the year 2016 has turned out to be lucky for Ram as his film "Neerja," starring Sonam Kapoor, became a huge success. The film, based on the life of late flight attendant Neerja Bhanot, has received critical acclaim and is also the third highest grosser of this year.
