The West Hollywood City Council voted in favour of removing US President Donald Trump's Hollywood Walk of Fame star in Los Angeles. However, it will take a lot more than these votes to remove the POTUS' star on Hollywood Boulevard.
After the famous Walk of Fame star was vandalised recently, John Duran, the Mayor of West Hollywood City Council had revealed that the council unanimously passed a vote to remove President Trump's star. However, the council cannot remove the star, until the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce agreed to do so.
This is the first time that the council has voted unanimously to remove Trump's star. The council took this decision after his "disturbing treatment of women" along with "other actions" came to light, reports Telegraph UK. His thoughts and ideas do not abide by the values of the City of West Hollywood.
As the City Council does not have a jurisdiction over the walk of fame star, they can only urge the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to take their suggestions and remove the star.
"These are the sort of icons and images that define us as Americans. To think that we would pay tribute to someone who's causing such a horrible disaster to our country's values," Duran was quoted as saying by Washington Post.
The Hollywood Walk of Fame has over 2,600 stars placed along the Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street. Trump got his star in 2007 for his exceptional work on the Miss Universe pageant.
Trump's star has been vandalised on multiple occasions ever since it was placed. On July 25, the star was turned into rubbles after a man used a pick-axe to thrash it.
Austin Clay, 24, was charged for smashing Trump's star with a pick-axe. The felon reportedly called the police and surrendered. Clay will face a maximum sentence of three years in jail if he is convicted. His bail is set at $20,000 dollars.
Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is yet to come up with a decision over what is to be done to Trump's star that has been wrecked multiple times over the past few years.
