Deepika Padukone began shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati even before the official shoot had started. It has been reported that the director considers her his lucky charm and thus shot a small portion in the month of October itself.
While Bhansali began the official shooting of the movie on November 1 along with Ranveer Singh, he shot for 2 hours with Deepika in mid-October at Mehboob Studios.
"Yes, technically speaking, it was Deepika who faced the camera first for the film, since she is playing the title role. Sanjay sir also felt that she has been his lucky charm. So she shot for over two hours on the lavish set created in Mehboob Studios," Hindustan Times quoted a source as saying.
Bhansali and Deepika have earlier collaborated for Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram Leela and Bajirao Mastani and both turned out to be blockbusters. Even Deepika confirmed the news and told the daily, "It is a special movie for all of us. We had barely finished Bajirao Mastani and Sanjay sir offered me the film. It is a tribute to one of the most courageous and beautiful women. Our journey has begun and the next few months are going to be intense but exciting."
The movie Padmavati also features Shahid Kapoor who will portray the character of her onscreen husband Rawal Ratan Singh. Ranveer will be seen as Alauddin Khilji. The film is touted to be one of the most expensive Bollywood movies till date. Padmavati is slated to be released on November 17 next year.
