Indian-American activist Seema Nanda was, last week, appointed as the chief executive officer (CEO) of the Democratic National Committee, which is the official governing body of the Democratic Party.
Tom Perez, Chair of the Democratic National Committee, named her as the CEO and said that Nanda was a "seasoned manager who has a proven track record of success and a well-documented history of fighting for our Democratic values whether it's on immigration, civil rights or leveling the playing field for our workers," reported the Times of India.
Post her appointment, Nanda said that she was honoured to get the post and that it was "the opportunity of a lifetime."
Vowing to fight for the "soul of the country," she added that Democrats have been providing amazing and positive solutions that are really required and these solutions she believes are "forged from the strength of our diversity, the rigor of our ideas and the decency of our values."
