Indian-American Rajesh Subramaniam has been named the new Chief Operating Officer and President of FedEx Express, a cargo airline based in Memphis.
Subramaniam will assume his new role after the retirement of incumbent CEO David L Cunningham in January. Currently, he is the executive vice president, chief marketing and communications officer of FedEx Services.
Subramaniam has been with FedEx for the past 27 years. He had joined the company at the Hong Kong office to take care of marketing and customer service in the Asia Pacific region.
Following that, Subramaniam moved to Canada where he became the regional president.
Subramaniam moved to the main league in 2013 when he was promoted to the position of vice-president of marketing. He was then given the role of executive vice-president and chief marketing and communications officer in 2017.
"Raj's global vision and broad experience make him uniquely qualified to lead our largest operating company. We look forward to the continued growth of FedEx Express within our global portfolio as Raj takes on this critical role," David J Bronczek, the president and chief operating officer of FedEx Corporation, was quoted as saying by PTI.
FedEx Express is a subsidiary of FedEx Corporation and is reported to be the world's largest airline in terms of freight tons flown and the world's ninth largest in terms of fleet size.
