With Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Quentin Tarantino is bringing back the 60s to the celluloid. The acclaimed director is currently making another western classic film set on the backdrops of Charles Manson's Family and the horrendous murder of Sharon Tate. The casting of Charles Manson was not revealed by anyone, until now. The Australian actor, Damon Herriman, is said to play Manson in the upcoming feature film that will also feature Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio in the lead roles.
The 48-year-old Damon Herriman is known to Australian audiences for playing some crucial roles in his career that includes, Love My Way, Laid, and 100 Bloody Acres. He also played a creepy roadkill truck driver in the American horror film, House of Wax. As per the report from The Guardian, Herriman has previously played famous people of the 20th century. He was seen as the band manager Chris Murphy in the 2014 miniseries, Never Tear Us Apart. But Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood will be Damon's first major U.S. movie role.
Damon Herriman will join a star-studded cast that includes Margot Robbie as Sharon Tate, Brad Pitt as Cliff Booth, Leonardo DiCaprio as Rick Dalton — Sharon Tate's neighbor, Dakota Fanning as Manson follower Squeaky From, Emile Hirsch as Jay Sebring — Tate's friend who was also killed that night. In addition to this, there are several stars who are also cast in the film for unspecified roles that include, Kurt Russell, Al Pacino, James Marsden, Rumor Willis, Tim Roth, just to name a few.
Charles Manson reportedly orchestrated a two-day murder spree in 1969. As per the reports, the murders took place after Manson got fascinated by the song, Helter Skelter. The two-day murder spree resulted in the death of seven innocents people that includes Roman Polanski's wife, Sharon Tate.
In addition to Quentin Tarantino's film, there are reports that Damon Herriman will portray Charles Manson in Netflix's' Mindhunter. According to the sources, Herriman will appear as 80s Manson in the TV series. As per the series' line up, it makes sense that the creators will bring Manson after the season 2 that will show the Atlanta Child Murders.
As of now, Netflix has declined to comment on Damon's casting.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is scheduled for release in mid-2019.
