Slovak police detained several suspects in an investigation into the murder of journalist Ján Kuciak. Kuciak And his partner Martina Kusnirova were found shot to death at Kuciaks home on 25 February. Kuciak was investigating the Italian mafias possible ties to the Slovak Government Officials at the time of his murder.
