Since a few months, there has been this idea that Deepika Padukone is the highest paid actress at the moment in Bollywood. Even though the actress hasn't confirmed the news, there's no reason why she shouldn't deserve the tag given the back-to-back hits she has been delivering.
However, topping her this time is Kangana Ranaut, who, according to Mumbai Mirror, has quoted Rs. 15 crore to two producers. The amount is apparently Rs. 2 crore more than what Padukone has charged for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati.
If true, this could take Padukone and Ranaut's cold war to another level. They were good friends at one point, but along the way, they have drifted apart. Ever since, the Padmavati actress dedicated one of her awards to Ranaut, the latter took offence.
"I got genuine compliments from Shah Rukh Khan who called me directly, Salman Khan, Aamir sir called me directly. Amitabh Bachchan also called me directly and even Priyanka (Chopra). Everyone called me, but Deepika never called me," she had told the media, when asked what she thought of Padukone's compliment.
What really widened the gap between them was Padukone excusing herself from the Tanu Weds Manu Returns screening citing prior professional commitment as a reason.
"I did extend an invite to Deepika, but I never got a response. I have always been supportive of my contemporaries and will continue to be, but it is hurtful when you don't get the same kind of support," Ranaut had said when asked about Padukone's absence from the event.
Later, Padukone shot down Ranaut's claims by saying her busy schedule keeps her on her toes and therefore, she is, more often than not, left with little time to ponder over what anyone else has to say about the choices she makes.
