India men cricketers always bag headlines with their wonderful performances, but this time it is the turn of some women cricketers to grab public attention. Deepti Sharma and Poonam Raut displayed some sensational batting effort and stole limelight worldwide with their feat against Ireland on Monday.
Both the cricketers scored a century each. Deepti cracked 160-ball 188 while Raut scored 116-ball 109, thus playing an important role in helping India beat Ireland by 249 runs. Deepti's 188 has become the highest individual score by an Indian woman cricketer, and the second best in women's world cricket.
More than their individual scores, it was their opening partnership that has become the talk of town. Deepti and Raut were in incredible form, as they scored 320 runs for the opening partnership, which happens to be first 300-plus stand in women's cricket.
The two hit a combined 38 fours and two sixes in their 320-run stand, a feat that surely won't get broken in a hurry.
