Starz's new miniseries, The White Princess has begun with a bang. Not only did it make headlines over the week for a particular sexual scene, the new show also garnered attraction for the story telling and good adaptation of the book.

The first episode not only introduces you to the main characters of the show, it also shows how Princess Elizabeth (Lizzie) dives right into the plot from the word go. We see her fall in love with Edward and urged to marry Henry. We also see her meet the Lady the King's Mother Margaret Beaufort and Lizzie taking the Hidden and Patient motto way too seriously.
The first episode also created a roar on social media as a rape scene depicted in the show made headlines after its premiere. In the first episode, Lizzie and Henry were seen in a sex scene which was depicted as a rape scene as Lizzie was forced into having it with him. In the novel, the scene is told in a gruesome manner. However the makers of the show chose to not replicate every single instant mentioned in the book.
Talking about the scene, executive producer Emma Frost told TVLine: "That was something that I felt wasn't the only possible route and wasn't something that I feel is right for a TV drama, and isn't something a 21st century female audience is going to be okay with on any level."
"To most people's minds you go, 'OK, they had sex, it's unlikely to have been consensual sex because she absolutely hated him and everything he stood for," Frost explains. "She's concerned his mother has murdered her brother, so she hates him."
The second episode will be no less of drama. The official synopsis of the second episode reveals:
King Henry VII sets out on Royal Progress, in an attempt to establish himself as the new sovereign. Lizzie's loyalties are further complicated by the child she is expecting.
The episode 2 promo adds more to the synopsis. It reveals that people are dying and Henry is being blamed for it. However, he is being defended thus adding to the political tension of the episode.
Lizzie attempts to bring Henry's focus to the deaths, but the promo reveals his least interest in the case. Instead of considering the situation, Henry overthrows Lizzie with the blame that she was focusing on the dead as a motive to attract people's love.
Henry's insecurity will be at high as everyone questions his power, his decisions and him!
