Popular hair care brand Pantene has come up with a innovative and unique advertisement. The new Pantene commercial, "Label Against Women", from the Philippines has gone viral on social networking sites.
The advertisment was uploaded on YouTube by Pantene's Philippines page on 9 November and has garnered more than 3,768,112 times till now.
"It's time we put an end to labels against women. Pantene believes that when you stand strong, you shine," Pantene Philippines wrote on YouTube.
Although released a month ago, the advertisement went viral only after Facebook Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg posted it on her official page.
"This is one of the most powerful videos I have ever seen illustrating how when women and men do the same things, they are seen in completely different ways. Really worth watching. Lean In prize of the day for sure," said Sandberg adding, "Congratulations to Marc Pritchard and the Pantene team and Andrew Robertson and the BBDO team."
The one-minute long advertisement shows how men and women, while performing the same actions, are perceived differently. The video starts with a man and a woman entering their office cabins. The man is title the "Boss", while the woman is labelled as "Bossy".
Likewise, a man is "persuasive, but a woman is "pushy". When a man works hard till midnight he is "dedicated", but when a woman works till late she is "selfish". When a well-dressed man walks he is "smooth", but a stylish woman who does the same is called a "show-off".
The advertisment has not focused much on Pantene's hair products, but it has certainly amassed public attention.
The commerical which is a part of Pantene Philippines' "Whip It" campaign was developed by BBDO Guerrero and team.
