Google has announced its latest operating system, Android 8.0 O, after months of keeping people waiting. The first developer preview of the firmware was released even before the official announcement was made at the Google I/O event, and the final version is expected to be made available to the public in August. But will your mobile phone get the OS update? Read on to find that out.
The search engine giant has made the beta version of Android 8.0 O available only to its devices. Like in the past, its handsets, the Google Pixel, Pixel XL, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Pixel C and Nexus Player, will be the first to receive the firmware update. David Ruddock has tweeted, citing sources, that the OS will be rolled out to Google Pixel series in the first or second week of August.

Almost all the OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) that make android phones may release Android 8.0 O update to its high-end devices, but only a handful of them have announced the devices that will get it.
Google has been keeping mum all this while but it is almost certain that its Pixel, Pixel XL, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Pixel C and Nexus Player will get the firmware.
Pete Lau, founder and CEO of OnePlus, has confirmed that the company's flagships OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T will receive Android 8.0 O update. The upcoming OnePlus 5 may come running Android Nougat but it should get the new firmware update soon.
Interestingly, HMD Global has announced that its handsets Nokia 3, Nokia 5, and Nokia 6 will get Android O update. However, it didn't reveal the tentative date for the seeding of the OS. It is a welcoming move as Nokia phones are back to android after running on Windows OS.
Other OEMs haven't opened up on Android 8.0 O update but we can say that Samsung, LG, Sony, HTC, Xiaomi, Lenovo (Motorola), Huawei, OPPO, and several smartphone makers will seed the OS to its handsets. The flagships should get it, and also those not older than two years.
